My name is Nuria Itzel, and I am a recent graduate from the University of New Mexico. I obtained my B.S. of Chemical Engineering with a concentration on Environmental Engineering. I was fortunate to secure a job in the industry straight out of college with a global engineering firm where I am currently a Process Engineering Designer. My favorite part about my work is that I can unleash my full creative potential and fuel my inspiration to help humanity and the environment. I want to spend my life creating things that will help humans all over the world obtain access to clean water, air, efficient electric power, and wholesome food.
My research projects include water and wastewater treatment, oil and gas produced water desalination, molten salt energy storage, carbon capture technology, sustainable hydroponic farming, and the use of AI for automating strenuous and laborious tasks in the agricultural sector. I am currently taking a break from formal schooling before I go back to UNM to obtain my M.S. in Environmental Engineering.
I love running and have recently taken a heavy interest in yoga. I am a social person and enjoy my time with my friends and family, but I treasure my quiet time alone. I am very open to new ideas and experiences, and would love to chat about anything!
Through joining SOLESS, I was able to go on an experiential research cruise known as STEMSEAS. This trip changed my life and helped me better understand the interconnected systems of the world. If you’ve made it this far, feel free to shoot me an email or connect on Linked In. Have a wonder filled day!
